The renowned Rosebud Motel from the beloved TV series Schitt’s Creek is said to be put up for sale in October 2020. Jesse Tipping, the owner of the Canadian dormitory that served as the primary setting for the motel, revealed in an interview with the Orangeville Banner, a south-central Ontario news outlet, that he intends to sell the property following the immense success of the comedic series.
Located on Tipping’s property at Hockley Road in Orangeville, Ontario, the fictional motel played a central role in all six seasons of the Emmy-winning show. Interestingly, the property has also hosted NBA stars such as Jamal Murray and Kyle Alexander, as reported by foxbusiness.com. Before becoming the backdrop for Schitt’s Creek, the location had been featured in various productions, including low-budget horror movies and the 2005 action-thriller film A History of Violence.
In more recent times, the Rosebud Motel made an appearance in Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy. Although the motel draws in visitors, reports suggest that its rooms are not available for overnight stays. During periods when the motel is not utilized for filming, it functions as a dormitory for the Athlete Institute Basketball and Orangeville Prep, both of which are overseen by Tipping, who originally acquired the motel in 2011 during its involvement in Schitt’s Creek from 2015 to 2020.
